• Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is a web site?

A web site is a collection of internet pages that provide users with information via internet. Web Sites usually have a main topic, like: science web sites, advertisement web sites, entertainment web sites, news web sites, etc.
More and more big and small companies use web sites to advertise their products, or organizations use web sites to get their messages available to a wide range of users, anywhere in the world (Ex. A nature organisation).
Some people also create personal web sites, in witch they talk about their selves, share personal pictures. They are used for keeping contact between friends, colleagues, etc, or meeting other people on the internet, or like on-line CV’s when they want to get a new job.

2. How can a Web Site help me?

If you are a company you can advertise your services or products, and so you will get more clients. It’s a way of letting people know about you! Or if you are an organization you can give your members information where ever they are, or let outside people know about your policy, actions, ideas. For example, a school can have a web site, for letting other people know about the school’s activities and plans, history, and also provide students with other information.

3. Do I have to pay any money for having a web site?

First of all, you have to pay the company or the person who will develop the web site. Professional Web developing is not a really easy job… It’s just like paying for software. After this, you will also have to pay for hosting the site on the internet. There are companies that host your web site, for a monthly or yearly tax.

4. How does it work?

Your web site is hosted by an internet company on their servers (powerful super computers). To make your site available on the internet, the company has to keep the servers always opened, or else your site will not be available via the World Wide Web. This is why they ask you for a tax. So anyone who has a computer with an internet connection can see your web site from anywhere in the world.
